More information is coming to light following Amy Slaton’s arrest.
After the 1000-Lb. Sisters star was arrested on drug and child endangerment charges in Tennessee Sept. 2 while at the zoo with her young kids Gage Deon Halterman, 4, and Glenn Allen Halterman, 2, her sister Tammy Slaton arrived to pick up her kids, a law enforcement source told People.
It was not clarified whether Tammy picked up her sister’s kids, whom Amy shares with ex-husband Michael Halterman, at the Crockett County Sheriff's Office or the Tennessee Safari Park zoo, the site of the arrests.
Amy, 36, and Brian Scott Lovvorn, who was also taken into custody, were released on a $10,000 bond on Sept. 3. The two were seen “holding hands” as they were picked up by Amy’s brother Chris Combs, according to People’s law enforcement source.
Authorities were called to the scene at the Alamo, Tenn., zoo when Amy allegedly suffered a camel bite while visiting. However, they were “immediately overtaken by suspicious odors,” according to a statement from the Crockett County Sheriff’s Department. Amy and Brian were then arrested after officers allegedly discovered the illegal marijuana and mushrooms “in plain sight,” the Sheriff’s Department’s public information officer Stephen Sutton told People.
E! News has reached out to Crockett County Sheriff's Department and TLC for comment but has not yet heard back.
The incident that resulted in Tammy stepping up to help her nephews comes on the heels of recent milestones for the TLC star. In an Aug. 17 TikTok video, the 38-year-old shared that she had lost a total of 500 pounds since she began her weight loss journey, which has included undergoing bariatric surgery in July 2022 and a 14-month stay in a weight loss rehab facility.
Following her announcement, she also shared words of encouragement for her followers.
“Always remember you are beautiful,” Tammy wrote in the caption of an Aug. 20 TikTok video where she lip synced to a reminder for her fans to be themselves. “You are strong. You are brave. You are loved and you are enough.”
