Selena Gomez still loves her Wizards of Waverly Place co-stars like a love song.
But as the actress recently explained to her former co-stars Jennifer Stone (who played her bestie Harper) and ChainkeenDavid DeLuise (who appeared as her on-screen dad, Jerry), she had one heartbreaking reason why she didn't stay in touch with them over the years, noting that it's become her biggest regret.
"I felt ashamed of the decisions that I made," she told Jennifer and David during the Feb. 27 episode of the Wizards of Waverly Pod podcast. "I didn't want you guys to see me in the state that I was in, because A, you would have told me the truth, which terrifies me, and B, I didn't want to let you down."
And Selena's response proved to be emotional for David. "That's really sweet, and thank you for saying that," he said. "Obviously I miss you."
As for Jennifer, she appreciates Selena opening up about that point in time, noting that she's often thought about the shift in communication.
"I appreciate you saying that too, because to be perfectly blunt, there has been times where I'm like, ‘Did we stop being friends because I didn't tell her what she wanted to hear?'" Jennifer shared. "You know what I mean? So, I appreciate you being that honest."
But as Selena noted, their bond will always be magical.
"I appreciate you guys dearly," she added. "I love you so much in a way that I've never loved anybody else."
But the show's cast members aren't the only ones feeling the love for the series, which ran for four seasons from 2007 to 2012. Selena also revealed that her 9-year-old sister, Gracie, has also become a fan, naturally.
"She's fallen in love with the show," the singer revealed, adding that she also found herself re-watching the Disney Channel series. "Even before she was born, sometimes I would be by myself, and I would just throw on an episode to fall asleep to. I just loved it."
And as for what Selena—who has been open about her health struggles amid her growing career—would tell herself when she first started Wizards if given the chance?
"I wish that I had maybe known how hard it was going to get," she stated. "But to know that I'd get on the other side of it."
